Since many of you are concerned about making the transition to the cloud, we have decided that we would only be transitioning our employee files, customer files and email programs at this time.

Moving the employee and customer files and programs to the cloud will give us better security over another attempt at someone trying to hack into our system and shut us down again. We will verify that the security of the service provider has higher standards that we are currently using.

In addition to the cost savings, we feel that we will gain back the trust of our employees and customers that was lost when our files were hacked earlier this year.

We will be moving over the email and calendar programs strictly for the cost savings. The three servers currently hosting the email client need to be upgraded as their hardware is no longer upgradeable. Buying three new servers would cost about $6,000. To run our systems in the cloud will cost approximately $900 a year. With no upgrades to the machines or software, there will be even more savings. Employee morale for our email technicians will increase as they will no longer be getting calls in the middle of the night.
